Mental Health Awareness

In the next two-year budget, the state funds Recovery Works!, which is a treatment program for inmates who have mental health and substance use disorders. We also are investing an additional $100 million over the biennium for other mental health initiatives at local and state levels. New laws open up communication channels between first responders and mental health professionals and hospitals, and establish community-based partnerships. Public safety personnel will be able to access patient care information, like an individual’s mental health safety plan.
